Jacob's Creek Double Barrel Shiraz is matured first in traditional wine barrels before being finished in aged Scotch whisky barrels. This technique adds extra depth and complexity, creating a rich and smooth Shiraz layered with aromas of blackberry, vanilla and subtle smoky notes. The palate is generous and savoury, revealing ripe plum, dark berry fruit and integrated charry oak, all carried through to a beautifully soft, lingering finish. Winemaker Richard Mattner - a born-and-bred Barossa local - loves making Pepperjack wines as much as he loves drinking them, especially alongside a great steak. As he says: "Why would I need anything else?" Deep dark red with a vibrant purple rim, the nose bursts with rich aromas of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, mocha, and spice. The wine has a wonderful aroma displaying dark plum, redcurrant and red cherry fruits along with subtle chocolate and a touch of oak derived spice. The palate is plump & generous with ripe fruit characters of plum, cherry and redcurrant. Mocha coffee and subtle aniseed characters are also present along with vanillan oak to balance the fruit flavours. The wine is medium-bodied with a soft mid-palate & pleasing tannin structure.
