Dark cherry fruit, red currants, and chocolate, and the soft tannins provide a lingering finish.

Dark & concentrated in colour, with red and purple hues. The bouquet is rich aromas of blackcurrant, mint, dark chocolate, coffee bean and earth. The Palate is plush and vibrant, the textural palate has fine tannins, and excellent persistence with fruitcake, plum, rum & raisin flavours.

Its velvety finish is thoroughly enjoyable, while the lingering essence of Cabernet spice continues to delight long after each sip. As for its appearance, one can aptly describe it as inky - an intense, profound darkness with a rich purple hue.

A medium-bodied wine with the bold characteristics of Cabernet Sauvignon in an approachable style. The palate offers fresh red fruits, with tight textural tannins and integrated oak complexity.

The Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon, first released in 2001, has been inspired by the great cricketing history of this vineyard. The wines consistently show great line and length. The nose leads with aromas of fresh tobacco leaf, cassis, boysenberry and spice. A silk like entry on the palate with super fine, detailed tannin, ripe berried fruits, a hint of tobacco and the classic brambles of Clare Cabernet to finish.

The soft and velvety Merlot combined with the more powerful Cabernet Sauvignon grapes produces a luscious red wine. Deep crimson in colour with aromas of blackcurrant, mint, spiced fruit, cinnamon and vanilla flavours.

Well-regarded since launch, the Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the typical cellarability that all Penfolds wines are renowned for. The wine has excellent structure and length and while it is ready for drinking now, it will gain further complexity with short term cellaring.
